Thoughts on a Winter Night
By Sonny
I sit here thinking of days gone by
And the people I held so dear
Many are gone and will never read this
So I write to those who are here
Your friendship has been a precious thing
A treasure worth more than gold
So before I leave this spinning ball
There are things I know must be told
To those who cared enough for me
To teach me right from wrong
I send you the thanks that you deserve
Directing me to where I belong
To those who passed by when I was down
When life didn't seem worth while
I still find a place inside my heart
That sometimes gives me a smile
To those who saw not the real me
And thought me an arrogant ass
Someday the truth will set you free
And all of these thoughts will pass
For if truth be known the words will say
Of all friends and acquaintances had
Each was a light to help me go on
I never met anyone bad
So when I am gone do not feel upset
I want your hearts filled with joy
For no matter my age remember that I
Lived and left, as a boy
